The Mesa Jackrabbits will challenge the Skyline Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mesa has now lost 17 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 2.
Mesa lost 12-5 to Dobson on Thursday.
Jada Porter was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and 11 unearned) runs off ten hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Ana Hernandez and Mailyn Ortiz Cabezas stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hernandez went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double, while Ortiz Cabezas went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Hernandez has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Daniela Beltran, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Skyline made sure to put some runs up on the board against Dobson on Tuesday. The Coyotes walked away with an 11-8 victory over the Mustangs.
Like Mesa, Skyline also got a great game from a two-way player: Kyleigh Beckett. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, Beckett posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Skyline let Kailey Meyer and Kyndall Carr run wild. Meyer went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Carr went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Carr has posted since back in March. Faryn Robertson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Skyline kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.2.
Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Skyline, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.
