Baseball Game Preview: Gateway Charter Griffins vs. Lely Trojans

Gateway Charter is 0-5 against Lely since April of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Griffins will venture away from home to challenge the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Neither Gateway Charter nor Lely posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Gateway Charter is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Golden Gate, falling 8-1.

Gateway Charter saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christopher Marrero, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lely was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 10-1 to Southwest Florida Christian.

Lely's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Gateway Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.

Gateway Charter suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Lely in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Griffins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
