Flag Football Recap: Carson Colts vs. Marshall Barristers
After only 12 points in their last game, Carson made sure to put some points up on the board against Marshall on Thursday. The Colts walked away with a 31-21 victory over the Barristers. The win was all the more spectacular given the Colts' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Barristers are ranked 92nd).
Several Barristers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaylin Macias, who threw for 229 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Sarai Rivera was Macias' top target, picking up 51 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Carson's victory bumped their record up to 7-9-2. As for Marshall, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-10.
Coming up, Carson will venture away from home to challenge Narbonne at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Colts 12.8, the Gauchos 6.7) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Marshall, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln at 5:00 p.m. on the 24th.
