Baseball Recap: Wheeler Gets the Win

Wheeler won the last time they faced Bancroft and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Warriors walked away with an 11-7 victory over the Bulldogs.

Xavier Bain and Ben Diaz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Bain tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Diaz struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. At the plate, Bain scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Diaz scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Diaz a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Connor Mahoney was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Evren Ozbek, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

The win got Wheeler back to even at 1-1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheeler will take on Portsmouth Abbey at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Ravens' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bancroft, they will host Beaver Country Day at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
