Recap: West Brunswick Trojans vs. South Brunswick Cougars
The West Brunswick Trojans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against South Brunswick by a score of 51-43. That's another feather in the cap for West Brunswick, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Among those leading the charge was Jahyra Mastry, who scored 21 points along with five assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ja'kya Johnson, who scored ten points along with six steals.
Despite the loss, South Brunswick saw an underclassman step up: Aubree Adams scored nine points along with eight rebounds. Meryn Deutsch was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
West Brunswick's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for South Brunswick, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
West Brunswick will head out on the road to take on New Hanover at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Hanover will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. South Brunswick will take on Hoggard at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hoggard has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
