Turner and Newman Smith are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. Turner is taking a road trip to square off against Newman Smith at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Turner and 31 for Newman Smith dating back to last season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Turner faced off against The Colony on Friday. Turner fell 5-1 to The Colony.

Grecia De La Garza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Turner saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Serrano, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Serrano has posted since back in February. Melissa Soto also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Newman Smith's offense. They came up short against Lone Star on Saturday, falling 25-0.

Turner now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Newman Smith, their loss dropped their record down to 0-16.

Newman Smith's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Turner has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. It's a different story for Newman Smith, though, as they've only averaged .264. Will they be able to contain Turner's hitters?

Turner beat Newman Smith 6-1 in their previous matchup on March 7th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Turner since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
