Softball Recap: Bishop Verot Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Coral Reef typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Bishop Verot proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Barracudas. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Crimson Lawrence made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Lawrence wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Willa Pagnutti, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Bishop Verot's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Coral Reef, they moved to 17-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Bishop Verot is taking a road trip to face off against Doral Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Firebirds have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Coral Reef, they will host Mater Lakes Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.8 runs per game on average), something the Barracudas will no doubt try to take advantage of.
