Preview: Gateway Gators vs. Drew Dragons
The Gateway Gators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Drew Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gateway is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Last Saturday, Gateway was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-53 to The Bay School.
Meanwhile, Drew lost to International on the road by a decisive 66-49 margin on Wednesday. Drew has not had much luck with International recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Teo Kimball-Directo put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That was a full 38.8% of Drew's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Kolsky, who scored six points along with two steals.
Gateway has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Drew, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Gateway was able to grind out a solid victory over Drew in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 52-45. Will Gateway repeat their success, or does Drew have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
