Basketball Recap: Michael Norton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Decatur Central over University

After flying high against Perry Meridian on Friday, Decatur Central came back down to earth. The Decatur Central Hawks took a 47-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the University Trailblazers. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trailblazers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael Norton, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 boards gave Norton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lavell Love, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 10 points and six rebounds.

Decatur Central has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. University's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8.

Looking ahead, Decatur Central will square off against Beech Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for University, they will face off against Guerin Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
