Softball Recap: Myrtle Beach Wins Going Away Against Socastee

Myrtle Beach made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Socastee, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Seahawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Braves a 10-0 shutout on Friday. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Seahawks yet this season.

Lilly Langway was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She also allowed three hits, marking her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Ryleigh Bordo and Shianne Needle did most of the damage at the plate: Bordo scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Needle went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Trinity King, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Myrtle Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Myrtle Beach's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Socastee, their defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-18.

The Braves will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: the Tigers will have lost three straight heading into Monday's matchup.
