Basketball Recap: Nazir Shaw and Khalil Townsend Secure Win for Warren County

Warren County won the last time they faced Northwest Halifax and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Warren County Eagles strolled past the Northwest Halifax Vikings with points to spare, taking the game 61-45. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Warren County was led to victory by Khalil Townsend and Nazir Shaw. Townsend went 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points and four steals, while Shaw posted 15 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Javier Marin, who put up seven points and six rebounds.

Warren County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Northwest Halifax's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Daveion Richardson, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds, and TrAli Hyman, who had eight points and ten rebounds. Hyman is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season.

Warren County now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Northwest Halifax, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Warren County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-54 win against North Edgecombe on the 6th. As for Northwest Halifax, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-21 defeat against Rocky Mount on the 7th.
