Baseball Game Preview: Highlands Ranch Falcons vs. Chaparral Wolverines

The Highlands Ranch Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the Chaparral Wolverines at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Highlands Ranch fell victim to Mountain Vista and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Eagles.

Highlands Ranch saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ayden Wells, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Chaparral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Regis Jesuit. The match marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Beckett Bacon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

Chaparral's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Highlands Ranch, they dropped their record down to 8-9 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Highlands Ranch skirted past Chaparral 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
