Basketball Game Preview: Columbus North Bull Dogs vs. Terre Haute South Vigo Braves

The Columbus North Bull Dogs will challenge the Terre Haute South Vigo Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Columbus North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season.

While Columbus North didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Batesville on Friday as Columbus North made off with a 66-46 victory. Given the Bull Dogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Columbus North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Perry, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points along with seven assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Perry a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Long, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Perry wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Columbus North was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Batesville only racked up 11 assists.

Meanwhile, Terre Haute South Vigo suffered their closest defeat since February 13, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Bloomfield by a score of 46-43. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Terre Haute South Vigo's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Columbus North, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
