The Bishop O'Connell Knights will head out to challenge the Paul VI Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop O'Connell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.

Bishop O'Connell is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Gonzaga, who was ranked seventh in their home state at the time (Bishop O'Connell was ranked 17th). The Knights walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Eagles on Saturday.

Bishop O'Connell got a great performance from Robert Kilpatrick as he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Kilpatrick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Bryant James was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker McElwain, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Paul VI came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 13-10.

Bishop O'Connell's record is now 13-3. As for Paul VI, their record now sits at 14-3.

Bishop O'Connell came out on top in a nail-biter against Paul VI when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
