Baseball Game Preview: Liberty North Eagles vs. Rockhurst Hawklets

The Liberty North Eagles will take on the Rockhurst Hawklets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Liberty North's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Rockhurst's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Liberty North is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Missouri's top teams: Blue Springs South, who was ranked sixth at the time (Liberty North was ranked 18th). The Eagles took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Brett Swanson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one run.

Rockhurst came out on top against Pembroke Hill on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run first inning. The Hawklets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Raiders. The victory continues a trend for the Hawklets in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won five in a row.

Liberty North has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-11 record this season. As for Rockhurst, their win bumped their record up to 5-15.

Liberty North took their victory against Rockhurst when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Hawklets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
