Basketball Game Preview: Independence Mustangs vs. Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings

The Independence Mustangs will head out to challenge the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Independence has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Independence is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down South Tama County 59-41 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Vinton-Shellsburg lost to Decorah-North Winneshiek on the road by a 62-47 margin on Saturday. The matchup marked Vinton-Shellsburg's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Vinton-Shellsburg and nudges their season record down to 3-4. As for Independence, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Independence barely slipped by Vinton-Shellsburg in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 55-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
