Softball Recap: Union Grove Victorious

It was a proper cat-fight when Union Grove faced off against Harleton on Saturday. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over the Wildcats. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Wildcats last Tuesday, they had to take a 7-6 loss.

Olivia Dabreu spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Aubrie Coulter and Jamie Webb did most of the damage at the plate: Coulter scored two runs while going 2-for-5, while Webb scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mia Mullican, who scored a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Union Grove has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Harleton, they moved to 7-14 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Union Grove will face off against Overton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least ten runs in their last five contests. As for Harleton, they will take on Beckville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
