Baseball Game Preview: Linden Lions vs. Big Valley Christian Lions

For the second straight game, Linden will face off against Big Valley Christian. Linden will venture away from home to square off against Big Valley Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Linden has nine straight wins, Big Valley Christian has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Linden's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Big Valley Christian 10-0. Considering Linden has won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Linden got a great performance from Justin Sales as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Sales has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dax Weber, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Jake Daluz also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Linden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Big Valley Christian only posted an OBP of .273.

Linden pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Big Valley Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Linden has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Big Valley Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts.
