Baseball Recap: Haines City Comes Up Short

Haines City lost against Discovery back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Hornets came up short against the Spartans, falling 9-3. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Haines City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juan Valbuena-Laballos, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Haines City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Discovery, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-13 record.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Haines City will face off against Ridge Community at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bolts will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Discovery, they will take on Lake Buena Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vipers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.27 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
