Softball Recap: Mission Bay Buccaneers vs. Morse Tigers

If Mission Bay was feeling good off their 14-0 takedown of La Jolla last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mission Bay Buccaneers lost 14-7 to the Morse Tigers on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Mission Bay of the 9-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April.

Maraea Hicks was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Indy Beesley was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Mission Bay hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morse struck out six times.

On Morse's side, the team relied heavily on Melody Wheatley, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and a double. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Miller, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
