Softball Game Preview: River Valley Vikings vs. Highland Fighting Scots

For the second straight game, River Valley will face off against Highland. The Vikings will square off against the Fighting Scots at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. River Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, River Valley had just enough and edged out Highland 4-3. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Fighting Scots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Kylie Eastep spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, River Valley's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sidney Street, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Another was Emersyn Isom, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

River Valley's win bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
