It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Midway had no problem doing just that on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars a 2-0 shutout. Give the Raiders' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Not much got past Wyatt Herring, who gave up just four hits to keep SouthWest Edgecombe off the board. Herring has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Midway's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Scott, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Midway is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-8 record.

As of now, neither Midway nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
