Softball Preview: Vermilion Sailors vs. Avon Lake Shoremen

Vermilion is 0-3 against Avon Lake since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Vermilion Sailors will head out on the road to take on the Avon Lake Shoremen at 5:00 p.m.

Vermilion is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Port Clinton on Thursday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redskins.

Meanwhile, Avon Lake can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Elyria 12-10. The high-scoring effort was just what Avon Lake needed considering they were shutout in their previous match.

Lindsay Revmatas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Revmatas has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Revmatas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
