Baseball Game Preview: Blake Yellow Jackets vs. Sickles Gryphons

Blake is 0-3 against Sickles since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. Blake will face off against Sickles at 7:00 p.m.

Blake is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Saturday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sumner.

Zechariah Ayers made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since March 1st.

Meanwhile, Sickles waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Indians 14-3. With that win, the Gryphons brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Sickles let Emilio Salgado and Jordan Yost run wild. Salgado went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Yost got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was Yost's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Nazar, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Sickles always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sickles' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Blake, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.

Blake couldn't quite get it done against Sickles in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can Blake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
