Canyon Springs gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 49-0 win over the Southwest EC Eagles. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cougars had established a 42-point advantage.

Leading Canyon Springs to victory were Andre Larry and Angel Robles. Larry rushed for 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries, while Robles threw for 190 yards and two TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. Larry also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making one tackle.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jordan Murray, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Canyon Springs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Eyan Quinones, David Garza, and Isacc Pesqueira picked up one apiece. Garza got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Coming up, Canyon Springs is taking a road trip to square off against Fallbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southwest EC, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Calexico at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
