Baseball Game Preview: Cold Springs Eagles vs. Winston County Yellowjackets

For the second straight game, Cold Springs will face off against Winston County. The Eagles will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m.

Cold Springs is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Winston County just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellowjackets. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Winston County's part, Camden Smith tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Smith also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Yellowjackets are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Chris Clemons was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Garrett Lewis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Cold Springs' loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Winston County, they moved to 7-13 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak.
