Baseball Recap: Metuchen Wins Going Away Against South Amboy

Metuchen had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt South Amboy on Monday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Governors with a sharp 8-2 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Cooper Crawford, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Ryan Alessi was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Metuchen is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for South Amboy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Metuchen beat the Governors by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday.
