Basketball Recap: Luella's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

It was a good run, but Luella unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Eagle's Landing Eagles, falling 69-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since February 2, 2024.

Eagle's Landing got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyson Moore out in front who went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. The contest was Moore's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Micah Medley was another key player, putting up 14 points and six boards.

Luella's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Eagle's Landing, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Luella and Eagle's Landing should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. Luella (ranked 93rd) will meet Mt. Zion (ranked 496th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Luella will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Similarly, Eagle's Landing will challenge Eagle's Landing Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 193 places (61 vs. 254).
