Baseball Recap: Wabasha-Kellogg Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Wabasha-Kellogg was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Rushford-Peterson Trojans by a score of 4-1. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Trojans back in April, they had to take a 9-1 defeat.

Cole Scheel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Wabasha-Kellogg's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 5-10 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Wilson Rosenberg, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Wabasha-Kellogg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Rushford-Peterson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Wabasha-Kellogg nor Rushford-Peterson have any future games scheduled.
