The Thomas Jefferson Gryphons stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 73-39 victory over Burns. Thomas Jefferson's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Thomas Jefferson found their leader in underclassman Samara Jones, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Twitty, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Burns lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaylee Greene. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Burns struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Thomas Jefferson, bringing their record for this year to 9-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Burns, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thomas Jefferson will take on Shelby at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Shelby focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday. As for Burns, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Gaston is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
