Softball Recap: Hamilton Has No Trouble Against Pinnacle

Hamilton had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Pinnacle on Friday. Hamilton blew past Pinnacle 10-2. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Liliana Russo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Amirah Lenon, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Viviana Camacho was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Hamilton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Pinnacle and nudges their season record down to 5-5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamilton will face off against Highland at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Highland will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Hamilton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pinnacle, they will challenge Higley at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
