Football Game Preview: Godley Wildcats vs. Glen Rose Tigers + How To Watch

Godley hasn't had much luck against Glen Rose recently, but that could start to change on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Godley made easy work of Mineral Wells and carried off a 42-21 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Godley relied on the efforts of Adam Pempsell, who gained 161 total yards and two touchdowns, and Ryder Papasan, who threw for 123 yards and three TDs. Those three passing touchdowns gave Papasan a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Glen Rose scored the most points they've had this season last Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 55-50 to Alvarado. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Indians are ranked 98th).

Despite the defeat, Glen Rose saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Judd Connally rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 222 yards and a pair of TDs. With that strong performance, Connally is now averaging an impressive 104.6 rushing yards per game.

Glen Rose's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Godley, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Godley came up short against Glen Rose in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 45-35. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
