Preview: Mt. Whitney Pioneers vs. Monache Marauders
Mt. Whitney is 1-0 against Monache since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mt. Whitney Pioneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monache Marauders at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mt. Whitney has four straight victories, Monache has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Mt. Whitney was able to grind out a solid victory over El Diamante, taking the game 15-3.
Carter Myers was the offensive standout of the matchup as he picked up 99 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 47-7, which was the final score in Monache's tilt against Redwood on Thursday. Monache was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-0.
Ty Baxter put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Baxter's longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards.
Mt. Whitney's win lifted them to 5-3 while Monache's loss dropped them down to 1-7.
Mt. Whitney was able to grind out a solid win over Monache in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, winning 14-7. Does Mt. Whitney have another victory up their sleeve, or will Monache turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
