Baseball Recap: St. Frederick Has No Trouble Against Caldwell Parish

St. Frederick made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Caldwell Parish, but they still couldn't quite topple them. St. Frederick put the hurt on Caldwell Parish with a sharp 11-1 win on Saturday. 11 seems to be a good number for the Warriors as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

AIDEN MELNA made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, CARSON DAY and CLAYTON TURPIN did most of the damage at the plate: DAY went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three runs, while TURPIN went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave TURPIN a new career-high. Another player making a difference was WILLIAM PATRICK, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

St. Frederick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

St. Frederick's record now sits at 8-13. As for Caldwell Parish, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Frederick will welcome D'Arbonne Woods at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. D'Arbonne Woods will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something St. Frederick surely won't give up without a fight. As for Caldwell Parish, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Winnfield at 6:00 p.m. Caldwell Parish's pitchers better be ready for this one: Winnfield has averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
