Basketball Recap: Marshall Takes a Loss

Marshall played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Harlan Hawks, falling 79-49. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-20.

Despite the loss, Marshall saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jason Vidaurri almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Vidaurri a new career-high in rebounds. Adam Camacho was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Marshall is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13. As for Harlan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.

Marshall will take on Brennan in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Brennan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 contests -- so hopefully Marshall likes a good challenge. Harlan and Holmes will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on December 20th. Harlan is facing Holmes at the right time seeing as Holmes is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
