Basketball Recap: Basic's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Basic entered their tilt with Sierra Vista on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 40-33 victory over the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolves also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Basic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mia Frias, who posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Kamilyah (Star) Williams, who earned 12 points.

When it comes to explaining why Sierra Vista lost, don't look at Donnayja Gibson. Despite the final result, she went 5 of 7 on her way to 11 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Silvas, who put up four points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Basic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Sierra Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.

Basic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 0-0 win against Mojave on the 22nd. Sierra Vista has also already played their next matchup, a 56-33 victory against Green Valley on the 23rd.
