Volleyball Recap: Royal Takes a Loss

Royal lost against Almeta Crawford back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Falcons came up short against the Chargers, falling 3-0. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The final score came out to 25-7, 25-19, 25-8.

Aliyah Wilson-Mathews paced Royal's offense, picking up six kills. Wilson-Mathews got some help from Jada Robinson and her four assists. Robinson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Almeta Crawford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makayla Holman, who had 21 assists. Holman is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 17 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Royal's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Almeta Crawford, they pushed their record up to 24-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Royal will face off against rival Freeman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Almeta Crawford is set to square off against their familiar foe Stafford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
