Baseball Preview: St. Xavier Bombers vs. Anderson Raptors
The St. Xavier Bombers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Anderson Raptors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, St. Xavier finally turned things around against Harrison on Monday. St. Xavier came out on top against Harrison by a score of 6-3.
Jackson Campbell looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Andrew Weber was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Anderson won against West Clermont on Friday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Anderson narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past West Clermont 3-2. The win was nothing new for Anderson as they're now sitting on three straight.
JoJo Overbeek was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Overbeek was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with a home run.
Overbeek wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jack Kuenning, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI.
St. Xavier's victory bumped their record up to 6-18. As for Anderson, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.
