Recap: Tolleson vs. Cibola

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out between Tolleson and Cibola. Everything went Tolleson's way against Cibola on Friday as they made off with a 48-26 win. Tolleson were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.

Tolleson's offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 27 first-half points. Cibola wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 14 to make it 27-14 heading into the break. The offense for Tolleson continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 21 points to put the game away.

No one put up better numbers for Tolleson than junior Arnell Christen jr., who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 207 yards and 2 touchdowns. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse junior Xavier Velasco, who racked up 12 tackles.

Next week Tolleson take on Valley Vista at 7:00 PM. After those two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one of them is set up to suffer a discouraging change of fortune. As for Cibola, they will face off against Kofa. Kofa are limping into the match on a seven-game losing streak.
