Soccer Game Preview: Irving vs. Coppell

The Irving Tigers will square off against the Coppell Cowboys on Monday. Irving will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Irving is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Sam Houston get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Given Irving's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Sam Houston are ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Coppell hasn't lost a match since January 3rd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was Coppell who was credited with the victory. Coppell got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Prosper's two.

Irving's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five games. As for Coppell, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-1-2 record this season.
