Baseball Game Preview: Naperville Central Redhawks vs. Fremd Vikings

The Naperville Central Redhawks will square off against the Fremd Vikings at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Naperville Central sitting on seven straight wins and Fremd on three.

While Naperville Central's victory against Yorkville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Redhawks skirted past the Foxes 8-7.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Fremd and Elk Grove have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers stepped up to hand the Grenadiers a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Vikings have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Fremd's win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-1-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Naperville Central, their win bumped their record up to 18-10.

Naperville Central couldn't quite get it done against Fremd in their previous matchup back in March of 2019 as they fell 11-7. Can the Redhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
