Football Recap: Monmouth Regional Falcons vs. Bernards Mountaineers

Monmouth Regional couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 35-6 loss at the hands of the Bernards Mountaineers on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Mountaineers are ranked 68th).

Ryan Corwin rushed for 20 yards and a touchdown. Ahmir Wiggins was his top target, picking up 55 receiving yards. On the ground, Tyler Gustafson rushed for 46 yards.

Logan Stevens had a dynamite game for Bernards, rushing for 65 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, while also picking up 71 receiving yards and a touchdown. Monmouth Regional will square off against Manasquan on Saturday. As for Bernards, they will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Hillside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
