Volleyball Recap: Lake Wales Comes Up Short

Lake Wales lost against Auburndale back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Highlanders fell 3-1 to the Bloodhounds. The Highlanders' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Lake Wales started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-13, 25-20, 25-14.

Leading Auburndale to victory were Bryson Barajas and Sebastian Crespo-Jimenez. Barajas had 13 digs, while Crespo-Jimenez had 23 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Crespo-Jimenez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Troughton, who had 13 digs.

Lake Wales' defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Auburndale, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Lake Wales wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Roosevelt Academy on the 17th. As for Auburndale, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Lakeland on the 17th.
