Basketball Recap: New Hope Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, New Hope couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a hard 59-45 fall against the Canton Tigers on Thursday. The Trojans have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Canton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shamira Morton, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. The match was Morton's seventh in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Dekendra Mitchell, who went 5-for-6 on her way to 15 points and three steals.

New Hope's loss dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Canton, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 25-5.

As of now, neither New Hope nor Canton have any future games scheduled.
