The CrossPointe Christian Academy Cavaliers are taking a road trip to take on the Covington Academy Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. CrossPointe Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.8 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, CrossPointe Christian Academy beat New Creation Christian Academy 11-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cavaliers.
Gaines Casey made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. CrossPointe Christian Academy is undefeated when Casey posts two or more runs, but 1-4-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Harrison Wilkes was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for CrossPointe Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4-1 otherwise. Carson Howard also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Covington Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Peachtree Academy.
Covington Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Lowery, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Lowery has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.
Covington Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for CrossPointe Christian Academy, their record now sits at 8-4-1.
Covington Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: CrossPointe Christian Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .357. It's a different story for Covington Academy, though, as they've only averaged .218. Will they be able to contain CrossPointe Christian Academy's hitters?
Everything went CrossPointe Christian Academy's way against Covington Academy when the teams last played back in March, as CrossPointe Christian Academy made off with a 16-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
