Gaston Christian came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered an 8-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cooper Summerlin tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Meridian Leffew was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Noah Cooper, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Gaston Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

Gaston Christian's record now sits at 7-1. As for Charlotte Country Day School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

The Buccaneers are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
