Baseball Recap: Chico Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

It was a proper cat-fight when Chico challenged Foothill on Tuesday. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Cougars 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won six in a row.

Chico got a great performance from Vinny Boatwright as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Boatwright a new career-high.

At the plate, Jaxxon Tweedt was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Chico's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Foothill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chico beat Foothill by a score of 6-1 on Friday.
