Baseball Game Preview: Channel Islands Raiders vs. Hueneme Vikings

For the second straight game, Channel Islands will face off against Hueneme. The Raiders will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. Channel Islands is on a four-game streak of home wins, Hueneme a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.

Channel Islands is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Hueneme just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Hueneme's part, Steven Hernandez looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hernandez has become a key player for the Vikings: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Hueneme saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allan Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Hueneme hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Channel Islands, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
