AAA Region II recap October 1, 2013

Pickens added to the longest winning streak in AAA Region II this week by beating Eastside, 45-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Pickens made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,791 from 4,557. The advance stemmed from a 45-7 victory over the Eagles last week.

Chad Seaborn's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Elijah Turner threw for 146 and 2 touchdowns and JC Baker had 72 yards receiving. On the ground Gunner Covey contributed 67 yards. Covey helped Pickens' passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 41 yards.

Turner put up the best numbers in passing as the Blue Flame defeated Eastside. Turner's favorite target this week was Baker, who caught 5 passes for 72 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Southside takes on Travelers Rest. As it stands, the Tigers are in first, while the Devildogs are in fifth.
