Softball Game Preview: Temple Academy Bereans vs. Valley Cavaliers

Temple Academy is 0-10 against Valley since May of 2021 but things could change on Saturday. The Bereans will venture away from home to square off against the Cavaliers at 10:00 a.m. Temple Academy has given up an average of 16.1 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Temple Academy's last matchup with Wiscasset could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Wednesday. The Bereans lost 33-13 to the Wolverines. The Bereans' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.

Madelyn Grant stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Carmen Corey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Valley never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Greenville 15-0. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.

The win made it two in a row for Valley and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Temple Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Temple Academy might still be hurting after the 22-0 loss they got from Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Bereans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
